Playing after the 1s fantastic 4-0 win over Didsbury Greys was always going to be a tough act to follow for the 2s. Playing Didsbury Northern 5s on a Saturday afternoon had seemed like a good idea when the fixture was rearranged.
The 1st half started well with a goal from Ellie Freer but soon MP were under prolonged pressure from DN. A defence that wasn’t that familiar with each other did well to hold out until DN equalised on the stroke of halftime. The only other MP action of that half was a warning to Karen Wood from the umpire.
The 2nd half carried on in the same vein with MP being hit by an organised DN team. They went ahead, then further ahead, then Karen was green carded. During which time MP didn’t concede & even had an attack. Penalty corners, usually a good scoring opportunity for MP, drew a blank, DN scored 2 more.
We welcomed back India Agravat on her Xmas hols, she was umpire’s POD. Holly Hamilton, in the centre of the forward line, worked tirelessly getting opposition POD. There were club debuts for Emily Blacknell, who only came to training for the 1st time 2 days before, & eventually, at the 4th time of asking, Eilidh Waddell who was team POD. Well what of DOD, an almost clean sweep for Karen, she very nearly got a yellow in the 2nd half, but also got some POD votes, we love her commitment! 5-1 at full time.
We really suffered a Christmas hangover but as captain Hoofy said we will do better next week.
Come on the Moss!
