A brilliant team effort with some ‘rock ‘n roll’!
MP3s took on our friends & top of div 4 City of Manchester on Sunday with a lovely 2-1 win to the Moss. With a squad of 15 & no starred players. We had some many subs we barely knew what to do with them all! We rolled the subs on & off, then we rocked 2 goals, both in the 1st half. The 1st was an early confidence booster from top scorer young Grace Brown, assist by Izzy Plant. The 2nd a beauty from Eilidh Waddell, yes she scores again. 2-0 at halftime.
COM finally pulled a goal back in the 2nd half & remained threatening throughout. 2-1 at full time.
There was some really nice play & good linking up. Our defence was immense as always; we have conceded the fewest goals in the league but we have also scored the fewest compared to the other top teams in div 4, still some work to do there. MP3s however are going from strength to strength as we benefit from a recent boost in talented new players, improving skills of existing players & excellent coaching support. MP3s are 1 win away from confirming top spot of div 4 & gaining promotion with 2 games to play. Final push ladies.
POD was a close call, with everyone playing so strongly, many got a vote. Lydia Campbell deservedly took it for a fantastic games causing gasps with her marvellous aerial skills & smiles when one went a little awry right off the sideline. COM POD went to Doc (Lisa Spencer) for a commanding performance in midfield. Umpire’s POD not completed but I have an inkling it would have been Lydia. BOD went to Holly Earmuffs, she didn’t realise she was playing and forgot her stick. Planty came a close 2nd with gum shield forgetfulness, retrieval operation & for her nicely unironed kit.
We loved the support today. MP2s, tired & cold after their own game, came over, also Angus, Al & Andrew (Hattie’s, Izzy’s & captain Rachael’s partners) & Jimmy Harwood (having already supported the 2s) completed the very welcome supporters lineup. We’re only sorry we didn’t score in the 2nd half-we nearly did. Thank you all.
Post match saw Michelle’s legendary scummy sorry scrummy lemon drizzle cake & cup cakes from Emily too.
It was a TOTAL team effort today, you rocked it MP3s. Well played to all & we walked away with 3 points. Woo-hoo!.
2 more chances to gain promotion, let’s nail it next weekend, at home & move on up to div 3!
Come on the Moss!
